DISTRICT 3 OF BUTTS COUNTY, GEORGIA COUNTY COMMISSIONER HONORABLE MITCHELL M. McEWEN (R) OFFICE: 770.775.8200
				Mitchell (Mitch) McEwen was elected to office in 2006 and assumed office in January of 2007. He is currently the owner of Regional Waste in Jackson, Georgia. Mr. McEwen graduated from Piedmont Academy in Monticello, Georgia before attending Georgia College and State University where he graduated with a bachelors degree in business. Commissioner McEwen has been an active member of the community for nearly 24 years, volunteering as a firefighter for 15 years with the Jackson and Butts County Fire Departments, serving as a member of the Butts County Industrial Development Authority and currently, the Butts County Water Authority. He is also a graduate of Leadership Butts County, which is a local leadership academy that selects and trains potential community leaders. Commissioner McEwen has the distinction of being the first Butts County Commissioner ever to finish the entire Certified County Commissioner block of studies within the first year in office and he has already started the process of obtaining his Advanced certification, which would make him only third Commissioner to ever attain that level. He is married and has two children.
To the citizens of District 3 and all of Butts County: Thank you for the trust you have placed in me by electing me to serve you on the County Commission. Even though I represent the Third District, Butts County is my home and I try to represent all the citizens of the County because what impacts one district can impact them all, either positively or adversely. Butts County is facing a lot of pressue from many different directions as growth continues its exorable pace south and north to our boundaries. I need your input to help make sound, informed decisions that will work toward the betterment of Butts County. I need your support and prayers as well. Long after we have gone from this place, the decisions we make today will continue to effect those future generations of Butts County citizens that will come after us; therefore, we need to strive to make the wisest decisions possible.
