DISTRICT 4 COUNTY COMMISSIONER
EDDIE L. TRAVIS (D)
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Eddie L. Travis was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in 1985 when Butts County increased from three to five commission districts. He served the remainder of that term and won his first four year term beginning in 1987. He has won re-election 5 times since then. Mr. Travis retired in 2005 from the State of Georgia, having worked in the Drivers License Examing division of the Department of Public Safety. He has also been the pastor of the Rising Star Baptist Church for many years. He has served numerous times as Chairman of this board as well as Vice Chairman. He is also a Certified County Commissioner and an Advanced Certified Commissioner as recognized by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia.
To the citizens of District 4 and all of Butts County:
It has been my honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Butts County and District 4 since 1985. District 4 is turning into one of the fastest growing districts in Butts County with new development in the Shiloh and south Jenkinsburg areas as well as the Highway 16 corridor. It has been my desire to manage growth effectively and in ways that do not disturb the natural beauty that makes Butts County what it is. While we know growth is inevitable, we still have time to take our destiny and shape it so that our county isn't spoiled. I am excited about the great things going on in Butts County such as the revitalization of Indian Springs, the anticipated building of the Griffin Technical College campus and our new County Administration Facility which is already better serving the needs of our citizens. If you need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me or our County Administrator if I am not available. A message can always be left for me in the Commissioners Office at 770-775-8200.

Again, thank you for your continued support and assistance as we strive to serve you.

Sincerely,
Eddie L. Travis
District 4 Commissioner
Chairman of the Board
