Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in employment with Butts County. Our positions cover a diverse range of positions, responsibilities and disciplines ranging from entry-level all the way to upper management. All employment with Butts County begins with an application made to the Board of Commissioners Office, located in the Butts County Administration Facility at 625 West Third Street, Suite 4. Certain entry level positions or jobs requiring specific certification are not advertised; rather, the County has a policy of continuous open recruitment and accepts applications for these positions at all times. When jobs come open in these categories, they are filled from the applications that are current (within 6 months) and on file. Open recruitment positions are listed further down the page. Some jobs may require a resume and cover letter in addition to the application; check the ad to be sure.

Other positions that come open may be posted internally, advertised on the County web site and/or in the Jackson Progress-Argus, the legal organ of Butts County. Most supervisory positions and all higher management positions require an interview board process. In this case, applications are reviewed and the most qualified candidates are forwarded to an interview board. The interview board will meet with the applicants and discuss the position in a question-answer format. Upon conclusion of the interview board, the final candidates will be forwarded to the department manager for selection. If you have an application on file for a position and have been through an interview board process, please note that a decision will not be made immediately following the board but could be as long as two weeks after the board. In most cases, if you are a finalist, the department manager will contact you for a one-on-one interview before he or she makes their decision. If you wish to apply, you must come to the Board of Commissioners Office to get an application
or download one here and return it either by mail or by hand. We reserve the right to hire and/or promote from within if suitable applicants are currently working in our system.

For full time positions, we offer Health Insurance (Humana HMO Open Access) with an employee co-pay, Life Insurance, Paid Leave and  Paid Holidays. Spouse and/or dependent insurance coverage is available at the County's rate only. Opportunities for advancement exist within all departments.

Thank you for your interest in Butts County and we look forward to receiving your application

Sincerely

J. Michael Brewer
