Butts County Emergency Management Agency


The Department of Public Safety is comprised of three County service divisions: Emergency 911, Emergency Management and the Fire Department. Each of these divisions comprise a vital component of the public safety matrix that protects and serves the citizens of Butts County, Jackson, Flovilla and Jenkinsburg. These agencies also work in concert with the Butts County Sheriff's Office, Jackson Police Department, Jackson and Flovilla Fire Departments and the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison. The Emergency Management Agency is responsibile for coordination of all disaster and hazard mitigation activities for the County, including early warning for storm systems, management of critical incidents and recovery efforts.

Butts County E-911 Communications

This office handles emergency public safety communications for all emergency response agencies in the County government. This includes the handling and management of the complex E-911 emergency number system, two-way radio systems, and the receipt/processing/dispatch/disposition of calls for assistance by the public. Butts County was the 56th county in Georgia to adopt and implement E-911 which has been in continuous operation since 1993.

Butts County Fire & Emergency Medical Services

This office is responsible for fire response, suppression and mitigation activities within Butts County and the City of Jenkinsburg, as well as Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance) for all of Butts County. Most of their response area now carrys a class 6 ISO rating or better which is a very good rating as it keeps home insurance costs lower. They cover 1 EMS Station and 3 combination Fire & EMS Stations in Butts County.
