This office bills and receives taxes for the operation of the County and School Board budgets and is the location for sale of motor vehicle tags for cars, trucks and trailers. We are located in suite 2 of the Butts County Administration Complex at 625 West Third Street, Jackson, Georgia 30233. Nancy Washington is the elected Tax Commissioner and has served in this capacity since 2004. Prior to that, she worked as Deputy Tax Commissioner from 1984 until 2004.

This office appraises and prepares tax assessments on all property in Butts County, as well as provides county mapping information for other departments of the County. All of this goes into the preparation of the annual Tax Digest which is used by the Tax Commissioner to collect taxes for the operation of portions of the County government. The Chief Appraiser and Staff are overseen and appointed by the Butts County Board of Assessors, a five person board appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve terms of office.
