The new Butts County Administration Building facade will totally abolish the old grocery store front and replace it with an attractive, modern visage that will sit suitably with neighboring businesses. Because of its strategic location, the facility will be one of the first buildings people see when coming into town from the west or north. The facade work will begin in May and should be completed in early 2008.
After entering the new facility from the front lobby, citzens will first come to the Octagon Lobby which is the main intersection for the Board of Commissioners Office, Community Development Department, Tax Commissioners Office and Tax Assessors Office. Further down the hall is the Board of Elections and Registrations Office.
The new 196 seat auditorium is the main meeting room for the Board of Commissioners. Featuring a state-of-the-art sound system, hidden projection screen and flexible lighting system, it should serve the needs of the Board for many years to come. It also features a raised bench that will seat 5 commissioners and 4 key staff members.
Local citizen Donna Watts becomes the first citizen to use the new building as she is greeted by Deputy Tax Commissioner Summer Durden
