| If you are retired, not working a full time job or wanting something to do in your spare time from work or home, why not consider volunteering with Butts County? Volunteer work is both rewarding and fulfilling and additionally, it helps to keep costs down and services to the public stronger. A list of upcoming volunteer opportunities are listed below. Some require special skills and training and more information about these can be obtained by contacting the department manager of the agency listed: Animal Control (Works with animals, various capacities based on skills) Board of Elections (Helps with telephones and errands during election time) Chamber of Commerce Volunteer (Operates the Welcome Center, greets visitors, provides information and answers phone Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) (Provides assistance during disasters-call Deputy Chief Goens at 770-775-8212) Commissioner's Office (Various clerical duties; light reception work) Firefighter (This can help you train to be a firefighter! Call Chief Ingram at 770-775-8212) Parks & Recreation (Multiple positions; please call 770-775-8228 to inquire) Reserve Deputy Sheriff (Contact Lieutenant Tim Filbeck at 770-775-8216) Applications must be filled out on ALL volunteer positions. Applicants will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to acceptance. Butts County reserves the right to reject any application for volunteer service wth or without cause. |
